1. The United Arab Emirates is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south and west, oman to the northeast, and the east. However, the precise border of the UAE remains a matter of dispute. The area of the country is slightly smaller than that of the Portugal.
2. In December 1971, the country became a federation combining six emirates which are Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Umm Al-Quwain, Ajman, and Fujairah.
