Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American physicist and engineer who made many breakthroughs in the production, transmission, and application of electric power. He was the father of the first alternating current (AC) motor and pioneered the development of AC generation and transmission technology.
- Nikola Tesla was born on a lightning storm night on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan, the Austrian empire present-day Croatia.
- Tesla studied math and physics at the Technical University of Graz and philosophy at the University of Prague. In 1882, while on a walk, he came up with the idea for a brushless AC motor, making the first sketches of its rotating electromagnets in the sand of the path.
- Nikola Tesla was a college dropout from the Graz University of Technology.
- Tesla lost the scholarship money as he became addicted to gambling. In his third year, he did not even sit for the examination. He severed all relations with his family to hide the fact that he had dropped out. At age 22, without contacting anyone, Nikola moved to Slovenia in search of work.
- Nikola Tesla hated pearls so much that he refused to speak to women who wore them.
- Throughout his life, Tesla never married, but he once claimed he fell in love with a pigeon. Tesla used to take walks to the park to feed the pigeons. He developed an unusual relationship with a white pigeon who used to visit him every day.
- The World Wireless System was a turn of the 20th century proposed telecommunications and electrical power delivery system designed by inventor Nikola Tesla-based on his theories of using Earth and its atmosphere as electrical conductors.
- Nikola Tesla gave some of the very crucial inventions to the world. Some of them are:-
(I) The tesla coil
(II) Magnifying Transmitter
(III) Tesla turbine
(IV) Shadowgraph
(V) Radio
(VI) Neon Lamp
(VII) Niagara falls transformer house
(VIII) Induction motor
(IX) Radio-controlled boat
(X) Alternating Current - Tesla had an IQ range from 160 to 310 and was one of the smartest people ever to walk the planet earth.
- Nikola Tesla and Tomos Edison were rivalries. Their relations got bitter on the war of electric currents. Thomas Edison’s direct-current system was the electrical system in which the current flows steadily in one direction. While Tesla and Westinghouse were promoting the alternate current system, in which the current’s flow constantly alternates.
- Nikola Tesla was an environmentalist and was against the use of fossil fuels.
- The U.S government had doubts that Germans are spying on Nikola Tesla and might be stealing his inventions.
- Tesla rarely slept and suffered from OCD. Tesla claimed to have required only two hours of sleep a night, although he occasionally napped.
- He was obsessed with the number three and used to polish every dining implement he used to perfection, using 18 napkins. Plus, before entering a building, he would often feel the urge to walk around the block three times.
- Many of Tesla’s inventions are still kept a secret by the United States government.
- Nikola Tesla gave some great quotes. Some of which are:-
(I) I don’t care they stole my idea…I care that they don’t have any of their own.
(II) The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine.
(III) The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence - By the 1930s, Tesla had again racked up a sizable bill at a hotel, this time the Governor Clinton Hotel in Manhattan. He couldn’t afford the payment, so instead, Tesla offered the management something priceless: one of his inventions.
- Nikola Tesla Died Poor in New York. He died on Christmas Day on January 7, 1943, and at the age of 87.
